Canon 40DStrengths: Price, feel, image quality Weakness: rubber grip, battery compartment Being my first DSLR, I'm happy with what I've seen so far. There's really no reason to say what I like about it. With all of the cameras in this class, this one had the feature set I was looking for in a camera. And for all of it's features, they all work as advertised. And the price compared to others? That was just a bonus. The only issues I've had so far have to do with the rubber grip peeling...

Great new camera from Canon!Strengths: Really Quiet Shutter, Huge LCD, Lots of new features Weakness: Tiny On/Off Switch, PC Sync location, Auto ISO in Creative Zone The first thing I noticed is the 3” LCD. It takes up the entire back of the camera. I think 3 inches is the biggest LCD they can put on there without making it a 1D series sized camera. The 3” screen is a great size but still not enough resolution to really see if your shot was sharp or not. - So after getting over the huge LCD I put in the battery and went to turn it on. That’s when I was...

Canon eos 40dStrengths: Takes very quick shots. Self cleaning dust is very helpful when other camera's has spots on their pictures and need clean. Amazing pictures, I love the big LED display nice and sharp and easy to use. Weakness: I'm use to a smaller camera before. Its heavy compare to my old SLR camera. Over all I would recommend this digital camera to anyone that wishes to start on beginner professional photography. This camera has alot of parts that you can buy as well to enhance picture quality even better.

canon eos 40dStrengths: Fast snapshot, big lcd, live view mode and better grip Weakness: none This is one of the best and most affordable camera you can get on the market right now. With 3 inches lcd, you can't miss the detail. If you want to take sport or action pictures, then this is the one to go for it. Get ready for the machine gun speed snapshots.

really nice upgrade for meStrengths: better autofocus faster speed live view still 1.6 croper Weakness: none yet I upgraded from a 350d and feel the upgrade was well worth the money. Camera is much faster both with fps and autofocus. Got good service from a preicegrabber store. It takes very nice pics, at over twice the speed of my previous camera. I have only used live view once, but for macro work I feel it will make for a good improvement. I am glad it kept the 1.6X lens crop factor as it makes my long...

40D-Great Buy!Strengths: Features! FPS, Custom Functions, Live View, list is long Weakness: None I moved up from the original 300D Digital Rebel. After four years, I felt I had learned everything I needed to move up to the xxD series. Also, I was pushing the limits of what I could do with that camera. The 40D was well worth the investment. I bought it with the kit lens, which is frankly, quite good. However, I already had the focal length covered so I sold off the kits lens. Now I've...

Perfect for any chooting!Strengths: Great zoom, lighting fast up to 6 shots per second, very good lens with optical stabilizer, allows to shoot in low lighted areas. Many iso levels, low noise levels. Weakness: High price Great zoom, lighting fast up to 6 shots per second, very good lens with optical stabilizer, allows to shoot in low lighted areas. Many iso levels, low noise levels, very nice colors, solid body design, nicely balance weight. Controls are laid out with thought, it is very easy to make adjustments, does not reuire to browse menu all the time. Live shot could be viewed through LCD. Light sensor self...

Canon EOS 40d kit with 28-135mm lensStrengths: Picture quality, depth, colors, construction Weakness: None found yet Amazing - what else do I need to say! I was looking for my first digital SLR and looked at the Nikon D80, information on the upcoming D300, and the Canon 40d. I made the right choice for me. I used it all day today and took some amazing pictures, even on the auto mode! As I read more and learn the camera, I expect the picture quality to only go up. The construction of the camera is impressive. As...

Canon 40DStrengths: 9 cross-type AF sensors all sensitive to f/5.6; faster and deeper buffer; EF-S and EF lense compatibility; great looking ISO1600 shots; 6.5fps; instant-on; large playback LCD; liveview; custom dials Weakness: Comparing it to higher priced cameras, several. Comparing it to lower priced cameras, none. I wish this had 8fps or 15AF points, but you can't have your cake and eat it, too. I just purchased this camera after deciding it was time to move up from a 10D. I can say that the 3" screen, while nothing special at first, is truly something to behold. Live view was neat, and I could see situations where that would come in handy. Overall, people need to determine what the features they need are, and purchase what accomodates those needs. This camera satisfied my needs, and I...

Canon EOS 40D (w/ 28mm-135mm lens)
THE GOOD: Generally superior shooting speed among dSLRs; first-rate photo quality. THE BAD: Large spot size for spot meter; relatively sluggish low-light focus. THE BOTTOM LINE: Great photo quality and excellent continuous-shooting performance are just two of the Canon EOS 40Ds many attractions in the digital camera marketplace. Top

Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera Review
A year and a half in the making, Canon’s EOS 40D modifies the foundation set by the EOS 30D and 20D, while incorporating elements from the manufacturer’s 1D line. The camera is centered on a 10.1-megapixel APS-C-sized CMOS sensor, paired with a newly developed DIGIC III image processor, which boosts the continuous burst speed up to 6.5 frames per second. Mechanical improvements include a... Top

DCRP Review: Canon EOS-40D
It's hard not to like the Canon EOS-40D. It's a digital SLR that does just about everything you could possibly want -- and it does them all well. While it remains to be seen how it will compare to new offerings from the competition, the 40D is still good enough to recommend without the slightest hesitation. <p> Top

Canon EOS 40D
In many ways the Canon EOS 40D seems a bit behind the market, coming late to the 10-megapixel game. But the image quality speaks for itself: Canon was right to wait until they could do it very well. Images captured from ISO 100 to 800 are essentially no-compromise when printed at 13x19 inches. Canon added a lot of new technology along the way, making the Canon 40D's spec sheet seem pretty flashy.... Top

The Canon EOS 40D is a new mid-range digital SLR camera aimed firmly at the keen enthusiast photographer. Successor to the 18-month old 30D model, the Canon 40D offers a large number of significant features that make it an enticing proposition for both current 30D owners and those interested in a more advanced DSLR. There's a 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, 6.5fps continuous shooting mode for up to... Top

Camera Labs – Canon EOS 40D review
Canon had to come back fighting with the EOS 40D, and it’s certainly delivered the goods. The new DSLR may resemble its predecessor from the outside, but features worthy upgrades in almost every department. The key specifications of resolution, continuous shooting, autofocus, weatherproofing, screen and viewfinder have all been improved, and there’s now also the addition of Live View,... Top

40D is Canon's Best SLR Camera for the Money
Strengths: 6 frames per second burst rate, anti-dust system, realtime LCD, low noise 10MP sensor, light weight, 1.6 crop
Weakness: low LCD resolution, could be put more cross type auto focus sensors
I have owned the first generation Canon Digital Rebel, Canon 20D, Canon 5D and now 40D. I would say that 40D is the best 1.6 crop SLR from Canon. I used it along side with my 5D, mostly for sports where its 6 FPS bust rate and 1.6 crop are more advantageous than 5D. 40D has the same sensor density as Canon's top of the line Canon 1DS III. This means that you are actually shooting with Canon 1Ds...
